Hybrid Google Maps for Maemo Mapper

Niko Kotilainen has an interesting server script on his site to bring hybrid Google Street/Satellite maps into Maemo Mapper. Unfortunately, you have to set up your own server with it, since there is no shared public server available. I did not find the time to try this out yet.

Just tried it. It is very easy to get going, but it doesn’t work for me. At the first tries, it didn’t report any errors on the console, but delivered only plain satellite maps to Mapper (I’m using the fresh 2.0 release).

A little later, I’m trying to browse over Daytona Beach, Florida, and I get no maps at all. On the console, the script keeps reporting errors like this:

    getting mt.google.com/mt?n=404&v=w2t.38&x=36024&y=54420&zoom=0
    getting kh.google.com/kh?n=404&v=13&t=tqstqtrsqqsqrsrtqq
    got both
Failed to get satellite photo, returning only plain map mt?n=404&v=w2.37&x=36024&y=54414&zoom=0
    getting mt.google.com/mt?n=404&v=w2.37&x=36024&y=54414&zoom=0
